OpenPlant Modeler Help

Create a Custom Component for Re-Use

The objective of the re-use workflow is to be able to create libraries of re-usable custom components for later use in a given design file. OpenPlant Modeler uses the workflow of defining re-usable components in a cell library and stored in models representing cells.
  1. Create a new file in OpenPlant Modeler as *.cel, representing the cell library.
Note: If you have an existing cell library already created, you can open that one in OpenPlant Modeler if you wish. By default, the cell libraries are stored in the ...Workspace\Projects\%Project%\DataSet\Cell directory.
  2. Select the Models option from the File menu.
  3. Click the Create New Model button and name the new model in the ensuing dialog.
Note: The name will serve as the name of the component to be created for future use.
  4. Click OK to open the new model.
  5. In the drawing create the geometrical graphics to be used for the new component and use the Create Custom Component workflow below to create the new component.
  6. You can repeat this process to create multiple component models in the cell library. These components can then be placed in a Piping model using the Place Component from Cell option.
Note: Edit Manipulators are not available for custom piping components.
